The Payroll Department is dedicated to providing accurate and timely paychecks and other comprehensive payroll-related services to all Bellingham School District employees. Payroll is a service-oriented department whose goal is to assist employees and administrative departments to process payroll information, answer inquiries, and resolve problems.
Besides issuing monthly payroll checks, the payroll department performs the following functions:
Calculate monthly compensation in accordance with Federal, State, District and Unions regulations. We currently have six distinct employee groups as well as hourly employees such as substitutes.
Process and maintain detailed records on various types of employees. In many cases, this involves multiple rates of compensation and financial accounts.
Reporting of wages/hours to various state and federal agencies such as the Department of Retirement Systems.
Calculate and withhold payments for over 80 different types of voluntary and mandatory deductions from employee paychecks.
